You may recognise the picturesque lakeside town of St. Wolfgang from the opening scenes of The Sound of Music, but whether you have seen the film or not the surrounding scenery is so stunningly dramatic you will feel like you have walked onto a film set regardless.
St. Wolfgang is around a 40 minute drive outside of Salzburg and I found it to be the perfect place to stop off for a couple of hours on my way to the city.
I’m not going to lie, St. Wolfgang did feel a little bit touristy, but it is one of those places that are so charming and beautiful you don’t really care, and even though it was touristy it didn’t feel overcrowded.
I would count St. WoIfgang as one of my Austrian highlights, and I would definitely recommend taking a couple hours to stroll around the streets, gaze enviously at the perfect lake houses and marvel at just how clear the water is.
What am I wearing?
This striped (of course!) dress is my essential whenever I am going away somewhere hot. It is the perfect all-occasions dress as it is casual enough to feel comfortable and not overdressed during the day, but yet looks pulled together so I can wear it out for dinner in the evening. I picked it up in the Hobbs summer sale and surprisingly it is still available on their website, Laura Dress.
